Please read our latest COVID-19 update below
Our entire Run Catalina Team has been working extremely hard with local authorities, LA County Health Officials, the Catalina Island Conservancy, the Catalina Island Chamber of Commerce, and our other island stakeholders and partners. We know many of you have been planning, training, and looking forward to experiencing the beauty of the island this year. Your support in the event directly benefits the Catalina Island Conservancy, a non-profit conservation organization working to help keep Catalina wild and several community charities that volunteer along the course. Lastly, the Catalina Island Marathon is an important economic contributor to the Chamber, local hotels, restaurants, and stores.
We initially postponed our date to August 29, hoping that the COVID-19 would regress and allow for a safe and responsible event. In June, we saw COVID-19 cases start to drop, which led our state officials to ease businesses and travel restrictions.
However, due to the increase in COVID-19 cases over the past few weeks, we've seen our government officials put restrictions back in place.
The island of Catalina, our event partners, and our team want to have the event, but we don't have government officials' approval.
As a result, we will not be able to host the Catalina Island Marathon, 10k, 5k this year on Catalina Island. The safety of our runners, volunteers, emergency services, and staff cannot be ensured to the comfort level of LA County Supervisors nor the LA County Health Officials.
In light of this, we will be providing a series of options for you to take advantage of and still accomplish your running goals.
We feel making this decision today gives the majority of our customers who plan to travel to the event, the necessary time, to adjust to their plans accordingly.
Below are the available options for the cancellation of the Catalina Island Marathon, 10k, 5k. All participants must select one of the options by September 15, 2020. Selections can be made on the homepage of catalinaislandmarathon.com.
*All morning boat tickets ($35) will be refunded upon request
*All pre-ordered merchandise that has been shipped to the island will be mailed out upon request
If you have any questions, please notify us at firstname.lastname@example.org.
Celebrate our 43rd anniversary with us this year at the Catalina Island Marathon on Saturday, March 14, 2020.REGISTER
In cooperation with our host, Catalina Island Conservancy, the Catalina Island Marathon is a CUPLESS COURSE! For hydration, participants can purchase reusable soft-cup. Participants may also provide their own hydration system. Thank you for helping us reduce the footprint on the island!
In partnership with our friends at BibBoards every marathon runner in 2020 will receive a set of custom BibBoards to use instead of safety pins. It is our goal and intent to eliminate safety pins from Run Catalina events by 2022.
